A big Thank you and Congratulations are in order to the Ordway Center for the Performing Arts, the Flint Hills International Children’s Festival, Cecelia Schiller, Kirstin Wiegmann, and Theresa Weinfurtner, and all of our LERAC participants for their help in the Artmoves Parade- The Lake Elmo Regional Art Center was one of 12 sites chosen to create fantastic papier-mâché bird parade props that will be marched around Rice Park on June 5 at 1:00 pm. Our resident Artist- Cecelia Schiller began our sessions by introducing a group of about 17 participants to papier-mâché. By the second session- with our framework and papier-mâché work completed, we began the painting process of the individual birds. At the final session, we added the wings and any final details, plus allow any extra time for use for questions, answers, and practice carrying the birds.
To say that the parade and the parade process was a success would be putting it mildly. The parade went perfectly, our participants were amazing, and the finished products looked terrific, and if you don’t believe me, check out the final results at;
