*      Thank you to those who braved one of the coldest days of the year to attend the Chroma, Inc. workshop featuring Interactive Acrylics on January 29. The Resident Chroma Artist said that she really enjoyed the camaraderie and the fun group that she worked with.

*      A Free Work Shop……………………

Additionally, the Lake Elmo Regional Art Center has been invited to take part in the Art Moves Parade / Flint Hills International Children's Festival on June 5 at 1:00 pm.

Ordway is sponsoring 12 community residencies throughout the metro area in the creation of movable pieces of art. Through an application process, Ordway matches community sites with local teaching artists who guide participants through the art-making process.  The Lake Elmo Regional Art Center was one of the sites chosen to create fantastic parade pieces that will be marched around Rice Park on June 5 at 1:00 pm. Our resident Artist will be Cecelia Schiller and our work sessions will be taking place at the LERAC Gallery from 6:30 pm-8:30 pm on May 5, 12, 19, 26, and June 2 will be our wrap-up, Question and Answer, and practice session. Ideally, Cecilia would like parents-grand parents working with the children; K-teens on the project.  Deadline for free workshop / registration / signup is April 21, 2010.

Those who wish to participate can create their own parade unit individually or by collaborating with a classroom, after school program or community group. For more information on the ARTmoves Parade and how to participate, please visit ordway.org/festival/artmoves

Don’t miss the opportunity to join in the fun at the drop in sessions!

The New Century Artists will be meeting Mondays from 6-9pm. The drop in fee for this session is a nominal $5.00. Or stop in on for free on Thursday and try your hand at some painting of your own. Either way, there is plenty of talent, conversation, and constructive critiquing going on. This is a wonderful opportunity to begin a new project, finish an old one, or just watch some very talented artists work on their own projects.

You can also stop by the Gallery on Thursdays from 4:00-8:00 P.M. and again join Mike Kramer and a few others as they continue to work on their projects, or better still, bring your own projects to finish as well.

When you are out and about, be sure to check out Dunn Bros. Coffee Shop on Fairview Ave to see their latest exhibit which runs from October 29 through the end of December.

Cash, checks and credit cards accepted.

We are handicapped accessible.

We are currently looking for Artists interested in doing a Gallery showing. If this interests you, please call (651) 246-1407.

Also, be sure to check out next newsletter for information about the Juried photography and textiles shows planned for later in 2010.
